FRENCH EDITION OF WOMAN FROM THE SECOND FLOOR

A novel Woman From the Second Floor would be published in French. A novel will be released by publishing house Agullo Editions, and translated by Olivier Lannuzel. The book is released at September 15. 

 

ITALIAN EDITION OF RED WATER

A novel Red Water would be released in Italian language. Publisher of the novel is a publishing house Keller Editore. A book is translated by Estera Miočić. Book would be released in early July.

 

NEW NOVEL BY JURICA PAVIČIĆ OUT IN SEPTEMBER

A new novel by Jurica Pavičić would be released at the beginning of September. The title of the book is Mater Dolorosa. Mater Dolorosa is a police crime novel taking place in Split, and following an investigation of the murder in industrial outskirts. A novel is told through three different percpectives. Editor of the novel is Adriana Piteša. It would be released by a publishing house Stilus knjiga.

 

THREE HOUSES, THREE FRIENDS-FIRST BOOK FOR CHILDREN BY JURICA PAVIČIĆ

Three Houses, Three Friends is going to be a first picture book for children by Jurica Pavičić. It's a picture book for junior school years. Book is also kind of thre crime thriller, too. The publisher of the book is publishing house Profil knjiga. Book is illustrated by the young and renown illustrator from Zagreb Klara Rusan. Editor of the book is Ivana Žderić. Book would be out in September. 

 

NEW, EXPANDED EDITION OF BOOK ABOUT SOUTH TO BE RELEASED IN BELGRADE

Collection of essays A Book About South will have it's new, third edition, first time in Serbia. The publisher of the Serbian edition would be a publishing house Drugi plan. Compared to a last Croatian edition, book includes three new essays. The editor of the book is Ana Pejović. 

 

AWARD OF THE FRENCH INDEPENDENT BOOKSELLERS FOR RED WATER

A novel Red Water is a winner of the Libr’à nous award for the best crime novel in France for 2022. Libr’à nous is an award given by 300 independent French booksellers who nominate seven books in seven different categories by a secret ballot. Red Water is awarded as a best crime novel.

Libr’à nous is a fifth award for Red Water in France. Novel previously got Le Points and Prix de la litterature policiere award for the best international crime novel, and the critic's award Prix de la Mystere de la critique.

 

RED WATER LAUREATE OF THE PRIX MYSTERE DE LA CRITIQUE 2022

Red Water is a winner of the Prix Mystere de la critique for the best foreign crime novel published in France. Prix Mystere de la critique was established by eponimous magazine in 1972. Previous winners of the prize are- among others- Thomas Harris, James Ellroy, Andrea Camillieri and Boris Akunin. Red Water was translated to French by Olivier Lannuzel, and published by Agullo.

 

RADIO ADAPTATION OF SON OF PROMETHAEUS

A novel Son of Promethaeus is going to be adapted for a radio. Five-episodes radio adaptation would be produced by Croatian public radio. Director of the radio-adaptation is Hana Veček. Zoran Čubrilo, Doris Šarić Kukuljica, Vinko Kraljević and Senka Bulić are among the actors who would play in an adaptation. 

 

RED WATER LAUREATE OF THE 73th GRAND PRIX DE LA LITTERATURE POLICIERE

Red Water is a winner of the 73th Grand prix de la litterature policiere award for the best foreign crime novel. Grand prix de la litterature policiere is the oldest, and one of the most estimated awards for crime fiction in France. The prize is established in 1947., and awards best francophone, and best foreign crime novel translated in France. Previous laureates of the awards are -amnog others-  Patricia Highsmith, P. D. James, Ian Rankin, Stanislaw Lem and Elmore Leonard. 

 

RED WATER LAUREATE OF THE TRANSFUGE AWARD FOR THE BEST INTERNATIONAL CRIME NOVEL

Red Water is a laureate of the Transfuge award (Prix litteraire Transfuge) for the best foreign crime novel published in France. Prix litteraire Transfuge is the award of the Transfuge monthly magazine for culture. The prize is given in thirteen categories, including books on art, books on cinema and collection of essays. Red Water is awarded as the best crime novel translated from foreign language.

 

RED WATER LAUREATE OF THE LE POINTS AWARD FOR THE BEST EUROPEAN CRIME NOVEL IN 2021

A novel Red Water by Jurica Pavičić is a laureate of the Le Point du Polar européen award. That is an award for the best crime novel of European author writen on French language or translated to French in 2020/21. Award ceremony took place during the Quais du polar festival which was taking place in Lyon July 1-5. Red Water was translated to French by Olivier Lannuzel, and published by Agullo publishing house.

A novel Red Water has been published in a German translation. The title of the German edition is Blut und Wasser. Publisher of the novel is editing house Schruf & Stipetic, and book is translated by Blanka Stipetić. 

 

SON OF PROMETHAEUS  SECOND BEST-SOLD CROATIAN BOOK IN OCTOBER

Son of Promethaeus is the second best sold book by Croatian author in October. According to data collected by specialized web site Moderna vremena, Son of Promethaeus is on the second place of the national list, after YA novel This Girl is Posessed by Devil by Tisja Kljaković.

 

SON OF PROMETHAEUS SELECTED AS A BOOK OF THE MONTH BY BESTBOOK MAGAZINE

Bestbook- monthly literary supplement of the newspaper Express- has elected Promethaeus's Son as a book of the month. Promethaeus's Son is elected for an October edition of the magazine. 

 

SON OF PROMETHAEUS- NEW PAVIČIĆ'S NOVEL- FIRST PROMOTION

A new novel by Jurica Pavičić- Son of Promethaeus- is in booshops now.  Main character of the Promethaeus's Son is Gorki Šain, former policeman and a son of the WW2 resistence hero who now works as a real estate lawyer for British developers. His job is to acquire land for a turist investment on the small Dalmatian island. But, that island is not just an island: it's a hometown of Gorki's hero father, and arrival of his son revives the ghosts of the 20th century past. Prometahaeus's Son is a book about capitalism in contemporary Mediterranean, reflected in a scenery of the small, isolated community. 

 

PLASTER SHEEP TRANSLATED ON MACEDONIAN

Plaster Sheep- first Pavičić's novel, initially published in 1998- in translated on Macedonian. The publisher of the novel is publishing house Ili-Ili, and the translator is Dejan Vasilevski. The Macedonian edition would be released in December 2019.

COLLECTION OF BEST SHORT STORIES THE SNAKE COLLECTOR OUT IN OCTOBER

Collection of best Pavičić's short stories- The Snake Collector- would be released in October. The collection includes 13 stories published since 2001. Author of the forword is a famous Serbian novelist Dragan Velikić, and editor of the collection is Adriana Piteša. The book would be released at book fairs in Belgrade and Pula. 

 

SELECTION OF STORIES IN GERMAN

Selection of best stories by Jurica Pavičić is published in German tranlation. The title of the book is Fremde Helden (Strangers Enemies) and includes ten stories from two short story collections- Highway Patrol and Boat in the Courtyard. The book is published by editorial house Schruf & Stipetic. Stories are translated by Susanne Boehm and Blanka Stipetic. 

 

NEW GERMAN EDITION OF A NOVEL PLASTER SHEEPS

A second edition of a novel Plaster Sheeps is published in German translation. The novel is published under the title Zeugen (Witnesses) by the publishing house Schruf & Stipetic. Translator is Brigitte Kleidt. New German edition was promoted at February 12, 19. 30, in a Berlin club Brotfabrik. 

 

RED WATER WINNER OF THE FRIC AWARD

A novel Red Water is a winner of the Fric award for the best fiction book published by Croatian publishers in 2017/18. Fric award is sponsored by the weekly newsmagazine Express.  Award bears the name as the memory of the nickname of the most important Croatian 20th century literary classic- Miroslav Krleža Fric. 

Fric award is given to the novels or short story collections writen by Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian or Montenegrin writers and published originally by Croatian publishers from June to June.

 

NEW COLLECTION OF ESSAYS  A BOOK ABOUT SOUTH  PRESENTED AT INTERLIBER FAIR IN ZAGREB

A Book About South- new collection of Pavicic's essays-  is presented in Zagreb on Interliber Bookfair. Book is the collection of 23 published or unpublished essays that deal with European south, Adriatic south and Croatian south. Among other topics, essays discuss the monoculture of tourism, history of everyday life in Adriatic, industrial heritage and prominent persons from 20th century Dalmatian history. The topics vary from the awkward history of one single hotel, to the role of Renault 4 in a Dalmatian modernization. 

 

RED WATER WINNER OF THE GJALSKI AWARD

The Novel Red Water had won a  Ksaver Šandor Gjalski award, an award for a best Croatian novel or short story book in 2017/18. The prize ceremony took place in Zabok, a native city of the writer whose name it bares. Founders of the national fiction award are city of Zabok and Croatian Writers Assosiacion. 

 

RED WATER NOMINATED FOR THE MEŠA SELIMOVIĆ AWARD

A Novel Red Water is nominated for the Meša Selimović award for the best novel writen in Serbo-Croatian languages in 2017/18. Other nominees are Lusithania (Dejan Atanacković, Serbia), Calypso (Ognjen Spahić, Montenegro), Memed, bandana, and the red snowflake (Semezdin Mehmedinović, Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Sun of This Day (Vladimir Pištalo, Bosnia and Herzegovina). The winner would be annonced at September 22 in the hometown of the great Bosnian writer Meša Selimović- in Tuzla. 

 

RED WATER NOMINATED FOR A T-PORTAL AWARD

A novel Red Water is nominated among 11 best Croatian novels which are nominated for a T-Portal award. The wiiners would be announced at June 16. 

 

PAVIČIĆ'S NOVEL PLASTER SHEEPS INCLUDED IN THE ANTHOLOGY OF ANTI-WAR PROSE FROM FORMER YUGOSLAVIA

The chapter from the novel Plaster Sheeps (1997) would be included in the anthology of the anti-war fiction from former Yugoslavia. The publisher of anthology A fost o data o tara is the Romanian publisher Editura Paralela 45, and the editors of the edition are Boris Postnikov and Dino Kreho.

TV SERIES THE HIGHWAY PATROL WON TWO MAIN PRIZES IN PULA FILM FESTIVAL

TV seria The Highway Patrol directed by Zvonimir Jurić and based on a screenplay by Jurica Pavičić had won both main prizes as the best TV series in Pula Film Festival. The Highway Patrol won the main prize of the official festival jury, and the prize of the internetional critics (FEDORA jury). The series is based on a story from the eponimous collection. 

 

NEW FILM BOOK IS OUT: CLASSIC OF CROATIAN CINEMA FROM YUGOSLAV PERIOD

Classics of Croatian Cinema from Yugoslav Period is a new Pavičić's book of film criticism. The book includes 12 essays on 12 key Croatian films from 1950. to 1983.. Publisher of the book is Hrvatski filmski savez, Zagreb. 

 

NOVEL WOMAN FROM THE SECOND FLOOR PUBLISHED IN GERMANY

A novel Woman From the Second Floor has been published in Germany. A German Title of the novel is Ein Tod fur Ein Leben, the novel has been translated by Blanka Stipetić, and published by a publishing house Schruf & Stipetic. The novel was launched with public reading at February 17, 2017, in Berlin. 

 

TV SERIES THE HIGHWAY PATROL SELECTED FOR TV FESTIVAL IN BIARRITZ

TV series Highway Patrol is selected for the program of the world-famous TV festival in Biarritz, France. Festival takes place in Biarritz between January 24 and January 29. Highway Patrol is selected out of 1200 submitted TV works, including TV series, feature films and documentaries. 

 

TV SERIES HIGHWAY PATROL CHOSEN AMONG TEN BEST IN 2016. BY ITALIAN NEWSPAPERS

Italian critic Sergio Grmek Germani had chosen a TV series Highway Patrol among 10 best titles in 2016.. His selection was published in an Italian daily newspaper Il Manifesto. Among other works chosen by Germani were new films by Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Lav Diatz and Hou Hsiao Hsien. 

 

CRITIC'S PRIZE FOR TITLE SEQUENCE OF THE TV SERIES HIGHWAY PATROL

Title sequence for the TV series Highway Patrol- based on Pavičić's short story and screenplay- has won a Oktavijan award in for a best advertising film, commercial or video clip in a Croatian Film Days festival in Zagreb. Authors of the opening title sequence are Zagreb designers Andrea Šušnjević, Marko Šesnić and Goran Turković. Oktavijan award id given in five categories (short feature, documentary, animation film, experimental film and commercial). Members of the Croatian Film Critics Association vote for each film from 1 to 5, and the winner is a film or work with a best average note. TV series Highway Patrol- and it's title sequence- was premierd on Croatian television in February 2016.
