The main characteristic of this book is that it does not have a best story. Each of the stories is good, all of them are excellent.
Bojana Radović (Večernji list)
"The Snake Collector" confirms a talent of the Croatian author, but this time in another- today very rare- register: of the short story.... Precize writing, sense for dramaturgy, laconic style: everything works well in this beautiful collection.
Christian Authier (Le Figaro, May26 2023)
Don't even think to go to Croatia this summer without this incredible short story collection by the author of "Red Water"...
Les Echos (France), June 2, 2023
In "The Snake Collector" indirect way how Pavičić apoproaches to the recent history of Croatia leads to a kind of drama in five acts, a virtuoso composition served by a writing of rare plasticity. With a stroke of pen and with vivacity, Jurica Pavičić has a skill of choosing one or two telling details, to brush with brio and conciseness a portrait in just a few lines. Say so many things in so few words is a rare gift which once again he uses admirably.
Elena Balzamo (Le Monde, June 23, 2023.)
A narrative talent of Jurica Pavičić, already noticed in "Red Water", comes back in a "Snake Collector", collection of five splendid short stories...
Pierre Glachant (Le Courrier des Balkans)
Short story suites to a taste of Croatian writer... It gives him an opportunity to revive, but without pathos ot judgement, the turmoils of recent history of its country
Mireille Descombes (Les Temps, Switzerland, July 22, 2023
The captivating collection of stories "The Snake Collector" paints a striking portrait of youth faced with terrifying situations...Each tale is finely chiseled, tailored to the point of disarming fall.
