In late February 2026, a business conference begins in Makarska. Among the attendees is Nikola Stipić, a former state secretary who had vanished from the public eye for several years following a political-judicial scandal. However, just before the event gets underway, an unknown assailant on an electric bicycle approaches Stipić and kills him.
Through the perspectives of five characters, the novel The Assailant explores what happens when someone decides to take justice into their own hands.
